How Do I Make a Character Remember My Name on RolePlaya?

The short answer: create a Playa with your name and set it as your default, and every character will call you by it in every chat. To make one particular character remember your name for good, even across new chats, add it as a memory with high importance and lock it.

Step 1: create a Playa

A Playa is who you are in the story. Instead of your account username, characters see your Playa’s name, photo and description, and use them when they talk to you.

1. Open the Playa Manager and tap New Playa.
2. Enter the name you want characters to call you, up to 25 characters.
3. Add a photo. Characters can see it, so they describe you the way you actually look.
4. Write a description of up to 700 characters: your personality, your job, your history, anything you want characters to know about you.
5. Tick Set as Default so it applies to every new chat.

You can make as many Playas as you like, and pick a different one for each character from My Playa in the chat options. One Playa for a fantasy world, another for a modern romance.

Step 2: make it stick with Enhanced Memory

Your Playa tells a character your name in every chat. Enhanced Memory lets a character remember everything else about you, your nickname, your history together and the promises you made, in every new chat too.

1. In the chat, open the chat options and tap Memories.
2. Tap Add Memory and write it plainly, for example “Their name is Alex and I call them Lex”.
3. Set the importance slider high.
4. Tap the padlock to lock it, so it is never cleared out.

Enhanced Memory is included on every character for Total Playa members. On the other plans it can be unlocked on any character for 300 Playa Points. Everything else about memory is in How Memory Works on RolePlaya.

If a character still gets your name wrong

• Check which Playa is active for that chat under My Playa.
• If your Playa shares a name with the character, rename one of them. Two people with the same name confuse any story.
• Use Regenerate with direction and pick the memory under Remind them of a memory.
