The short answer: like and dislike characters on the homepage and RolePlaya learns your taste, putting characters that suit you first. Use the search bar to search every character, tag filters to narrow by genre and mood, Discover for hidden gems from newer creators, and the Spotlight page for creators’ best work. Bookmark anything you want to come back to.

Train your homepage

Your homepage is ordered for you. It learns from the characters you like and dislike, the ones you chat with, the ones you create and the images you make. After you like or dislike a character, a small panel asks whether it was the picture, the story or both. Answering sharpens your homepage, and changes show the next time it loads. Prefer a random mix? Switch off Personalised Homepage in Settings.

Every way to find characters

Search. Searches every character on the site, not just what is loaded on screen.
Tag filters. Narrow the homepage by genre, mood or category, and hide tags you never want to see.
Discover. Characters from creators with five or fewer published characters. The best place for hidden gems.
Spotlight. Featured characters and the week’s top creators, with search and filters.
Public Worlds. Whole casts of characters who share a setting. See the Worlds guide.
Creators you like. Subscribe to a creator and their new characters appear in your Creators tab.
Pause. Tap Pause on the homepage and it stops reshuffling, so you never lose the character you were about to open.

Keep track of what you find

Bookmark a character with the bookmark icon on its card and it lands in your Saved for Later tab, without following it.
Follow a character to hear when its creator adds something new.
Review your likes and dislikes on the My Preferences page, and undo any you tapped by mistake.
